the ‘house in the landscape’ presents a sustainably-conscious home made from elements of the landscape without compromising contemporary comforts. designed by polish practice kropka studio, the structure is situated amidst the bucolic scenery of the eagle’s nest natural park and is comprised of two individual buildings connected by an exterior walkway wrapped in wooden lattice. an immediately notable feature is the use of gabion walls filled with local limestone that comprise the structures, save for the projecting timber planked volumes and titanium-zinc roofs. in this way, the structure is literally made of local material. the interior enjoys a new construction of energy efficient airy spaces filled with natural light. white walls and ceilings coupled with concrete floors define a modern look, accented by touches of exposed wood such as in the interior latticework or cantilevered stair treads.
